Great Movies

 Films - It brings to us different cultures of the world. It introduces us to various art forms and helps us in gaining knowledge about how different people lead their lives. In this blog, you will read about some of the great films in the world which have occupied a very prominent place in people's heart. And as I say, don't just scroll down and read it๐Ÿ˜œ. So lets get started :-

1. The Exorcist - It is considered a unique horror film and in 1973, it was called as one of the scariest movies of all times. It is a shocking surprise that the making of this movie dogged many problems during its making, including two tragic deaths and a studio fire. The film is about a young girl who is possessed by Satan. The young girl's face, her eerie and terrifying screams was the scariest part of the film. It is unforgettable because of the visuals created by the special effects.

2. The James Bond movies - These movies are based on a series of books written by Ian Fleming about a fictional spy - James Bond who is known as 007 in the Intelligence Organization that he works for. It is a very famous movie which is still loved by the audience and the character of James Bond has been played by several actors.

3. On of the longest films - Modern Times Forever which runs for 240 hours or 10 days is one of the longest films. 

4. Life of Pi - It is a film we all are most familiar with and I am sure, all those who are reading this blog MUST have seen that movie. Released in 2012, it is a 3D adventure drama film. The story revolves around a 16 year old boy who survives a shipwreck and is stranded on a raft in the middle of the ocean along with a tiger. It became a great success and won 4 Academy awards,

5. Gandhi - Richard Attenborough's 'Gandhi' was an epic, biographical film of Mahatma Gandhi that won 8 Oscar Awards, making it one of the most successful of British films. It won awards for best film, best director, best actor and best screenplay.

6.The Kid  - It released in 1921 and was a silent movie, produced, directed and starring the very famous - Charlie Chaplin. It was his first full length film and proved to be a huge success. The story is about a tramp ( played by Charlie Chaplin ) who takes care of an orphaned child that he finds on the street. When the orphan's mother begins looking for him and offers a reward, everyone is after THE KID. Charlie Chaplin's movement are alone very funny with his odd penguin walk and ill-fitted clothing and his constant run-ins with the local cops. The film has become an important part of film history.

7. Karate Kid -  It is an American martial arts movie released in 1984. The story is about a martial arts master who agrees to teach a bullied boy, and shows him that there is more to the martial arts than fighting. 

8. Laurel and Hardy - It is one of the most popular comedies in the classic Hollywood era of American cinemas. The two actors made a perfect comic team. They starred in over 100 films together.

10. Sound of Music -  It was released in 1965 and is an evergreen musical film. It is based on a true story of the Von Trapp family. The story revolves around Marie, a young woman who wants to become a nun, but is sent away to be the governess. This film is rich in music and is filled with positive messages. It also gives us a glimpse of life in Europe just before World War - II. 

11. Home Alone - It is a hilarious comedy released in 1990 and was a big hit. It is about a young boy who is left behind by his family when they leave on a vacation. Two burglars try to break in, and he shows courage and resourcefulness as he devises various booby traps to scare them away. It is a great comedy and became the highest comedy box office grosser of the time.

12. Frankenstein - It is a horror movie based on a novel and is based on a classic tale of tragedy and horror. The film is about a monster created by a mad obsessed doctor which has the body of a corpse and the brain of a criminal. The movie's unexpected tone, combining horror, suspense and humour sets it apart from anything that came before and much that came before. 

13. The Dark Knight - It was released in 2008 and is the second film in the series. In this movie, a self-described agent of chaos, the Joker arrives in Gotham and quickly seizes control of the city's crime syndicate. The actors have put in an extraordinary performance and there is no doubt that this is one of the best films of the decade and one of the best films ever made too. 

14. The Planet of the Apes - It was released in 1968 and is about an astronaut who crash lands on an unknown planet and is captured by an advanced society of apes who speak. The movie became a quick sensation and triggered sequels, telivision shows and cartoons.

15. It's a Wonderful Life - Released in 1946, the movie is about an angel who helps a compassionate but despairingly frustrated businessman. It came back from being a box office failure to win a well-justified place among the greatest films. It touches upon one basic truth of life that we all should believe - EACH OF US, NO MATTER HOW APPARENTLY SIGNIFICANT WE ARE, HAS THE POWER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

16. Harry Potter - Its again one of  my personal favourites. The whole series revolves around a fictional character 'Harry Potter' and is a delightful blend of magic, action, and friendship with mind blowing side effects. It became a tremendous success.

17. Jurassic Park - The film is remarkable for the monster dinosaurs that were created especially for it. Its an awe-inspiring film and was a huge hit in the box office.

So, I have tried to bring you guys some of the most famous movies which have caught the audience's mind and soul. People all around, including me have repeatedly watched these films just because they don't get bored even after knowing the plot. If you have not seen any of these movies, try to watch them.
